“What if two people answer at once?”
It happens — that is the honest answer, and any parallel dialer that says otherwise is selling you something. When it does, one call is connected to your rep and the others are released immediately rather than parked in silence. We count every one of those released calls and throttle your dialing pace against that count, because the FCC caps abandoned calls at 3%. The throttle is automatic and it is not something you can switch off.
“Is there a delay when someone picks up?”
Yes — a short one, by nature. Screening a live human from an answering machine takes a moment, and bridging the answered call to your rep takes another. Every parallel dialer on the market has this connect delay; we work to keep it brief and we coach reps to open assuming it. If you need zero delay on every call, a single-line dialer is the honest recommendation, and you will make far fewer conversations per hour.
